Kidney cysts are when pouches of fluid form on the surface of the kidneys. These can also happen inside the kidney. When the cysts become large, they may manifest symptoms such as upper abdominal pain, fever, or an ache in your side or back. The cysts may exist for a long time unnoticed until some of these pain or fever symptoms appear. To directly treat the cyst will require a visit to the doctor. However, at home, you can do a number of things to improve your situation.
Drinking sufficient water can be helpful. There are many benefits to drinking water and helping with kidney cysts is one of them. Water will allow your kidneys to perform their job correctly. It is recommended that you drink four liters of water per day. This amount of water will lead to about 1.5 liters of urine which can flush toxins out of the body. If you make some of your water intake juice, consider drinking cranberry juice. It has been shown to help with a wide variety of kidney and urinary issues.
Fruits and Vegetables Provide Fiber
Many nutritionists and doctors recommend diets rich in fresh and vegetables. These foods have a good fiber content and supply needed vitamin and minerals. Experts recommend about four to five cups of fruits and vegetables. Note that juice does not count towards your quota because it lacks fiber. Also, leafy vegetables, such as lettuce, count half as much towards your five cup quota.
Monitor Protein Consumption
Maintain a healthy balance of protein in your daily diet. Too much protein causes your kidneys to do extra work and two little leads to malnutrition. Include about one to one and a half cups of protein in your diet. Make it lean protein to avoid excessive fats.
Herbal Tea can Assist
Herbal teas can help. They are good for your overall body. Especially consider teas such as chamomile, parsley, or marshmallow tea. Sip them throughout the day for an equivalent of two cups total.
Smoking, fumes from household chemicals and cleaners, overuse of medicines create extra toxins in the body. This means extra work for your kidneys. Taxing the kidneys means stress on that organ and the cysts will increase in size. For better health, avoid these elements which make matters worse.
Light Exercise Boosts Immune Power
Avoid exercises which bend, stretch, or stress the kidney area. Light exercise such as brisk walking for 20 to 30 minutes several times a week can be helpful. The exercise boosts your health and immune system. So, your body is better able to reduce the cysts through its natural processes.
Flaxseed Oil Helps Fix
Flaxseed oil in combination with an increased diet of fruits and vegetables has had good results. Take some flaxseed oil daily. Be sure to have about nine portions of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables daily in your diet.
Vitamin E Can Lead to Improvement
Consider adding a supplement of Vitamin E to your daily regimen. Another good idea is a selenium supplement. Follow these daily and be sure to adjust your diet to have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables of at least five cups a day. Watch the amount of protein in your diet and stick to low-fat protein sources.
