Bacteria, the main culprit for bad smell

A correct identification of the fishy odor

BV leads to a vaginal discharge. However, another condition – a yeast infection – could be mistaken for BV. The discharge from BV is usually gray or white with a fishy odor. However, the vaginal discharge from a yeast infection is white and thicker; like cottage cheese. Also, a yeast infection’s discharge is usually odorless.

The recommended home remedies especially for women

Women everywhere find relief from BV via home remedies. Using natural, everyday ingredients restores the balance and health to their bodies. Unlike prescription drugs which indiscriminately eliminate both good and bad bacteria, home remedies restore and improve health in a holistic manner.

Apple Cider Vinegar – one home treatment

The first one to consider is using apple cider vinegar. The acidic nature of vinegar makes the vaginal area harder for bad bacteria to thrive and encourages good bacteria. Just add one to two cups of the apple cider vinegar to your bath water. Be sure to stay in the bath water for at least 20 minutes. Do this soaking procedure each day until it improves.

Tea Tree Oil – a natural antibacterial

Tea tree oil has long been known for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Also, it will work against that fishy smell too. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to a small bowl of warm water. Mix it well and use it to rinse your vagina. Do this every day for three to four weeks. Another option is to add a few drops of tea tree oil to your bath water and then soak in the tub for at least thirty minutes. Follow this home remedy each day for a month.

Well-known natural antibiotic garlic to the rescue

From horror movies people often associate garlic with warding off vampires, garlic is known for its healing and health promoting properties. Mash three to four cloves of garlic and apply the paste mixture to the affected parts. Leave it on for twenty minutes and then rinse with clean, lukewarm water.
