There are several types of headaches. Doctors and medical experts have classified headaches into different types. Based on symptoms and causes, headache has been classified into more than ten groups. To a common man, it can be categorized into three groups: migraine, headache caused due to tension and cluster headache. The characteristics of each headache depend on the location, type and duration of the pain. However, there are some natural drinks that can relieve headache.
Lavender Lemonade is Refreshing
Medical experts suggest that lemonade with lavender infused in it can relieve headache. Take twelve cups of water and just mix one cup of raw honey and one or two drops of the lavender essential oil. You can stir in more honey or add more water according to your taste. Make sure to chill it before serving. For maximum results, add juices of freshly squeezed lemon instead of using concentrates. One or two tablespoons of dried lavender blossoms can also be used as an alternative.
Ginger Juice is wonderful for Instant Relief
Ginger is known to reduce inflammation of blood vessels in the head and relieves headaches. Just take equal parts of ginger juice and lemon juice and mix it well. You should drink this once or twice a day. In addition to this, you can also make a paste by mixing ginger powder with two tablespoons of water and apply it on your forehead for instant relief.
Peppermint Oil is Soothing
Peppermint can help in opening the blocked blood vessels that causes headaches. Peppermint oil contains menthol which improves blood flow. Mix three drops of peppermint oil and one teaspoon of almond oil and drink it. Alternatively, you can add little water to the above mixture and gently rub it on the temples and behind the neck. Crushed peppermint leaves can be applied on the forehead for quick relief.
Cinnamon Spice for Headache
Medical experts opine that cinnamon can treat headache effectively. Make a thick paste by grinding cinnamon sticks to fine powder and mix it in some water. Apply this paste on the forehead and take rest for thirty minutes. After thirty minutes just wash it off with lukewarm water.
Thyme Can Relieve Headache
You need to dab a few drops of thyme or even oil extracted from the leaves of rosemary onto your forehead. Gently rub it and massage the forehead. Take rest for some time and this will ease your headache.
Clove has Pain-Relieving Properties
Clove is a spice which is known to have pain reducing properties. This spice can reduce throbbing headaches because of its cooling and pain relieving properties. Gently crush few cloves in a clean handkerchief. Keep smelling the handkerchief to get relief from headache. As an alternative, you can mix two drops of clove oil and a tablespoon of coconut oil and some sea salt. Gently rub this mixture onto your temples and forehead.
Basil Relaxes the Muscles
Basil is an herb that has muscle relaxing properties and can help in getting rid of headaches caused due to tensed and tight muscles. Add three or four basil leaves in a cup of boiling water and simmer it for some time. Mix some honey and drink this tea. You can also inhale the steam from the boiling pot of water containing basil leaves or even chew the leaves.
Apple Keeps the Headache Away
Apples and a drink of apple cider vinegar is known to get rid of headaches. Mix half a cup of this vinegar with half cup of water in a vessel and boil this mixture by keeping it covered. Take it off the heat and place a towel over your head and make sure you lower your head into the bowl to inhale the steam. This will provide instant relief.
