Acne comes in many forms. One style is blackheads which form when skin oil is trapped in a pore and exposed to the air. The oil changes to brown or black. Acne typically appears on the face and neck, as this is where the glands that produce oil are primarily found. These home remedies can help.

Washing Removes Oil and Dirt

When you have acne, you want to clean the skin of the affected area to remove oil and dirt. Use mild soaps and cleansers. Wash your face gently and pat it dry. Repeat this once or twice daily. Excessive washing beyond twice daily can irritate the skin and exacerbate the acne problem. Avoid breaking of “popping” pimples. This can lead to worsening conditions and acne scarring. Additionally, be sure to shower and bathe after exercising or any activity that leads to significant sweating.

Use a Natural Skin Cleaner

A cleaner such as Witch Hazel can do wonders for the skin. In a pinch, seek out other natural skin products that use salicylic acid as their active ingredient. Apply the cleaner daily using a cotton ball. At first, your skin may excessively dry out, but after a few weeks, it will reach a balance that is clean and sustainable.

Green Tea isn’t Only for Drinking

Many people know the benefits of drinking green tea. It can also be used to make a facial cleaner. Just mix one teaspoon of green tea leaves with some warm water. Combine so that it makes a paste. Cover the skin with the paste for two to three minutes, then wash off with clean water. An alternative would be to use green tea powder. Repeat two or three times weekly.

Honey Helps with Acne

Honey is known for its many healing properties. Use it on your acne as well. Simply apply pure honey to your face. Let it rest for ten minutes and then gently rinse it off with warm water. Repeat several times a week. The nourishing properties of honey will rejuvenate your skin.

Tea Tree Oil for Your Skin

Tea tree oil has many benefits. Use it to help clear and cleanse your skin. Some studies have shown that gels containing five percent tea tree oil are highly effective against acne. Apply the gel daily.

Zinc Sinks Acne

Some studies have shown that zinc in lotions and cremes is effective. Seek out a lotion with zinc as a significant ingredient. Apply these lotions daily. Although less directly beneficial, increase zinc in your diet can have a positive effect.

Aloe Vera Gel and Wave Aloha to Acne

Some have reported using aloe vera gels against acne. Seek out a pure aloe vera gel instead of one formulated with extra ingredients for sunscreen. Apply the aloe vera to your skin. For added benefit, mix in some tea tree oil to the gel before applying it to your skin.

Baking Soda for Beauty

Baking soda, that all around household cleaner, helps with acne too. Mix whole milk with pure honey in a two to one ratio. Then add some baking soda to make a light paste. Wash your face normally and then apply the mixture. Leave it on for ten minutes and then rinse it off. Use this two or three times weekly. Not only will this clear up your acne, but you will find your skin softer and smoother too.

Brewer’s Yeast Fights Acne

Brewer’s Yeast, specifically one called CBS 5926, has been shown effective against acne. Take one capsule daily or in the amount the packaging recommends. Some have found that Brewer’s Yeast can increase flatulence.
