A good diet is not the same thing as an expensive diet. What makes a good diet is the content and for cancer patients, a good diet would be one that has a high content of antioxidants. This is because antioxidants have properties that mop up free radicals from the body which are known to be predisposing factors to cancer.

1. Consider the Broccoli Stalks

Broccoli can be bought in different ways but the best way to buy it is to get it all; including the stalk. While cooking, many people will chop up the florets and toss the stalk into a waste bin without realizing that they are highly nutritive. In an analysis, the florets are just about thirty percent of the vegetable which means the remaining seventy percent has been thrown away.

The citrus peel (citrus here includes oranges, lemon, grapefruits) contains a chemical compound known as limonene which has dual anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties but sadly, this part of the citrus goes into the waste bin after the juice has been taken. Although more research is needed to understand how it works but in the meantime, you can boil it with sugar to make candied lemon or cut it into strips infused with the olive oil of your salad.

3. Explore the hidden antioxidant content of Sprig of Parsley

Sprig of parsley mostly appear on the dish as a garnish which means not many people dare to eat it. in the real sense, it is a large store of vitamin K and C and for a while, researchers have been studying its role in cancer. What you should know currently is that sprig of parsley is high in antioxidants. It also has apigenin, a flavone, which decreases the risk of various cancers.
