Evaluation has led to the introduction of competency assessment in the nursing curriculum

The evaluation has led to the redesigning of curriculum and the emergence of a curriculum that focusses on competency. Students are informed the outcome competencies and the skills they are expected to develop. Two assessment approaches are used to evaluate competence in nursing students. They are: Competency Performance Assessments (CPAs) and Competency Performer Examinations (CPEs). CPAs will assess the class assignments and grades are given based on the assignments. CPEs are used in clinical situations to assess how they are performing in these situations.
